Roberta Ann Ball

Roberta Ann Ball, 90, Marion, passed away at 7:21 pm on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. She was born in Gosport, Indiana, on Saturday, March 3, 1934, to Robert and Violet (Donaldson) Hancock. On January 20, 1952, she married Hobert Ball and he preceded her.  

Roberta graduated from Anderson High School in 1952 and had worked as a technician for 40 years with RCA, retiring in 1999. Roberta was a long-time member of First Christian Church in Gas City where she was involved as an Elder, Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and Deaconess, Board President and president of the Christian Women’s Fellowship. Roberta was also a long-time member of Young at Heart. Roberta enjoyed spending time with family, especially seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She attended every sporting event and special occasion for her grandchildren that she was able. Roberta liked to crochet. She was an avid Indianapolis Colts and Pacers fan, and recently enjoyed watching the Indiana Fever basketball games. More than anything, Roberta loved watching her ever-growing family over the years and she will be missed dearly by all whom she leaves behind.  

Survivors include her daughter, Judy (late Gary) Johnson of La Fontaine; son-in-law, Gary L. Belcher of Marion; grandchildren, Mike (Dawn) Wright of Gas City, Kelli (Jacob) Adams of Knightstown, Gary (Amanda) Belcher II of Fairmount, Jenny (Danny) Pulley of La Fontaine; great-grandchildren, Heather (Sam Elliott) Wright, Bradley Wright, Luke Wright, Emily (Sam) Owens, Kelsi (James) Haskett, Foxx Adams, Karson Adams, Ciera Belcher, Miles Belcher, Ryleigh Pulley, Atalie Pulley, great-great-grandchildren, Rosalynn and Noelle; brother, Terry L. (late Malinda) Hancock of Marion, as well as a countless number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Shirley Lea Belcher; son at birth, Jerry Mitchell Ball; sisters, Jean Hymer, Janice Lyons, Myra Fridley; and brothers, Bobby Hancock, Art Hancock, Steven Hancock, and Mike Hancock.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday, July 1, 2024, at First Christian Church – Gas City, 401 E. N. “D” St., Gas City, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Roberta’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Dustin Jones officiating.  Burial will take place at Estates of Serenity.
