Ronnie Ray Poland Sr.,76, of Peru, Indiana passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 21, 2024.
He was born on July 12, 1948 in Peru, Indiana to Carl Ray Poland and Lucille Mae (Hoos) Poland Lugenbeal. Ronnie enlisted in the United States Army on August 31, 1965 where he proudly served his country for 2 years. Ronnie worked as a project manager thru the years for various different contractors. His work took him all over the country. He loved taking care of his yard, flowers, and gardening. His favorite pastime was fishing. He loved all animals. Ronnie was a gentle soul with a kind heart. He married the love of his life, Susan (Jones) on October 29, 1993.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Susan, are children Ronnie R. Poland Jr. of Peru, Indiana and Rhonda (Jerry) Peek of Cookeville, Tennessee. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren: Kyle, Mitchell, Rick, Adam, and Tabitha; 15 great grandchildren; and brothers-in-law, James Jones of Peru, Indiana and Thomas Jones (Sherry Hudson) of Kokomo, Indiana.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Donnie Poland, a brother Thomas Poland and brothers-in-law Robert (Linda) and Philip.
Per Ronnie’s request, there will be no services. As a testament to the kind of person Ronnie was, even in death, he still helped numerous people and potentially saved many lives by becoming an organ donor.
In lieu of flowers, his family requests you celebrate Ronnie’s life by donating to an animal shelter of your choice or planting a tree in his honor.
