Roy Eugene Prater, 75, of Marion, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Lutheran Hospital of Downtown in Fort Wayne. He was born in Jacksonville, Texas, on Tuesday, July 19, 1949, to Carlton D. and Neva (Madison) Prater. He was married to his loving wife, Sherry (Gray) Prater, who survives.
Roy graduated from New Summerfield High School in Texas. He worked as an A/C technician for 36 years before working at Intelligrated, where he was an electrician. Roy loved building miniature towns, mostly western towns.
Roy is survived by his wife, Sherry Prater of Marion; children, Amy Buys, Troy Prater, Rodney (Rachel) Prater, and Sabrina Kegley; grandchildren, Fletcher Dorris, Mathew Mele, Robert Mele, Sarah Prater, Markus (Maylana Banter) Jones, Joel Jones, Aiden Prater, Kayla Prater, Logan Prater, and Colton Clark; and brothers, Wayne Prater and Dewey Prater.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carlton D. Prater, and his mother, Neva Prater.
There will be no public visitation or funeral service.
