Roy Lee Evans

Roy Lee Evans, 78, Marion, passed away at 1:09 am on Saturday, October 12, 2024, in his home. He was born in Wise, Virginia, on Wednesday, July 24, 1946, to Hayward and Bonnie (Stidham) Evans.

 

Roy graduated from Appalachia High School and was a welder for ten years with Active Products.

A true lover of southern gospel music, Roy found immense joy in attending music events at Dollywood during his time in Virginia. His season pass was a testament to his passion for music and the happiness it brought him. A hobby he particularly enjoyed was refinishing furniture, and several pieces he refinished were in daily use in his home.  Above all, Roy treasured the time he spent with his grandkids and great-grandkids, creating memories that will be cherished forever. His love and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his daughter, Rebecca Evans of VA; sons, Hayward (April) Evans of Marion and Patrick Dale of Marion; grandchildren, Prestynn Evans, Liberty Evans, Joshua Evans, and Lisa Poole; five great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Spears of Appalachia, VA; and brother, James Evans of Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jimmy Evans, Harold Evans, David Evans, and Franklin Evans; and sisters, Lillie Fay Evans, Irene Blanken, and Ellen Loftis.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Roy’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating.  Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
