Shane Waters hired as Downtown Wabash, Inc. Executive Director

WABASH, IN —Downtown Wabash, Inc. is thrilled to announce the hiring of Shane Waters, Owner and Chief Creative Officer of Black Label Podcasting, as its Executive Director. Previously, Waters served as a board member and board vice president for Downtown Wabash, Inc. Waters began his new executive director role the week of Jan. 20, 2025.

“The Downtown Wabash, Inc. Board of Directors is truly excited for Shane to step into this role. His previous two years as a board member and board vice president plays an integral part in Shane’s interest and dedication to our downtown district,” Downtown Wabash, Inc. Board President Amanda Lopez said. “We’re eager for his innovative knowledge and skillset to maintain the vibrant reputation of Downtown Wabash, Inc. as we see the Downtown Wabash 2030 Strategic Plan through.”

A rural Indiana native, Waters moved to Wabash in 2021 after marrying his wife Alecia. Once settling here, Waters established downtown Wabash, Ind. as the Black Label Podcasting headquarters where he immediately became involved in the district as a small business owner and Downtown Wabash, Inc. volunteer and board member.

“Before I accepted this new position, I was proud to serve on the Downtown Wabash, Inc. Board of Directors for two years as a board member and vice president. Now, as executive director, I’m more determined than ever to ensure Downtown Wabash continues to be a beacon of history, innovation and community pride,” Waters said. “In 100 years, I hope visitors will walk these same streets that I did to learn about the groundbreaking achievements we’re crafting today. And, just like me, I hope they’ll fall in love with Wabash’s spirit and decide this is the place they, too, want to call home.”

This true-crime podcast genre pioneer, 45-time award-winning public figure and subject of an upcoming Amazon Prime documentary is excited to channel his passion toward Downtown Wabash, Inc. As a thriving 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Downtown Wabash, Inc.’s 44-year foundation of downtown revitalization will continue forward with Waters’ innovative direction.
