Sharon R. Rook, 75, of Gas City, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025, in Gas City. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on March 2, 1949, to Robert and MinniEllen (Sims) Kirby. She married Gary McKee with whom she had 3 sons. He preceded her on July 8, 2007. Sharon married Donald L. Rook, who survives her.
Sharon graduated from Marion High School and dedicated her life to being a homemaker, lovingly raising her boys. She enjoyed watching her soap operas, cherished her family, and maintained lifelong friendships with many of her childhood friends. Sharon also had a passion for crocheting and adored her dog, Pistol.
She is survived by her three sons, Shannon D. McKee of Gas City, Jeremy W. (Toni) McKee of Munising, MI, and Courtney S. (Lori) McKee of Marion; her grandchildren, Jordan, Damon, Ridge, and Addyson; her brothers, Robert (Georgia) Kirby of Marion, and Charlie (Rhonda) Kirby of Hartford City; and her sister-in-law, Roberta Hulce of South Carolina.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Robert L. and MinniEllen Kirby; her sister, Tamarra J. Nielsen; her brother, Jerry Hulce; and her first husband, Gary W. McKee.
Sharon will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the love she shared with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The family will receive visitors from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 as well as 10:30-11:30 on Thursday prior to the service at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, IN.
A funeral service to celebrate Sharon’s life will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel. Pastor Tom Mansbarger will be officiating with burial following at Marion National Cemetery.
