Shirley Marie McLain

Shirley Marie McLain, 87, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 3:08 pm, Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Wellbrooke of Wabash.  She was born on May 16, 1936, in Eolia, Kentucky, to James Arnold and Ruth Idella (Dodson) Collier.

Shirley worked at Art Metal/Datavue in Wabash more than 20 years, Controls in North Manchester, First National Bank in Wabash, and retired from Ford Meter Box in 2001 after 16 years. She was a member of Bachelor Creek Church of Christ. Shirley enjoyed reading, embroidery, and especially spending time with her family.  

She is survived by three children, Greg (Betty) McLain of North Manchester, Indiana, Teresa (Edward Welsh) Storm of Wabash, and Elizabeth Lee of LaPorte, Texas; eight grandchildren, Kevin (Wendy Laesch) Carr of Wabash, Dustin (Lindsay) Carr of Dickinson, Texas, Michael (Jessica) McLain of Kouts, Indiana, Carrie (Cory) DeLoach of Monroe, Georgia, Casey (Brook) McLain of Roann, Indiana, Davin Lee of Clovis, Texas, Kyra Lee and Lillian Lee, both of Houston, Texas; 11 great-grandchildren, Tyler McLain, Kirstyn Howard, Carson McLain, Emitt McLain, Archer Carr, Eleanor Carr, Tessa DeLoach, Barbara Galloway, Daisy McLain, Dean McLain, and Daphne McLain; and two brothers, Robert Collier of Cumberland, Kentucky, and Randall (Jeannia) Collier of Lynch, Kentucky.  She was preceded in death by her parents, longtime companion, Roger Fife, great-grandchild, Bailey Galloway, brother Eugene Collier, sister Sandra Dunaway, brother in law Charlie Dunaway and sister in law Patricia Collier.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Joel Cogdell officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash.  Friends may call 3-7 pm Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is Dementia Society of America.
