Smoke “Smokey” Leedy, 11, beloved dog of Tom and Beth Anne Leedy passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024, after a difficult battle with pancreatitis.
After having a lifelong love of dachshunds, Tom always hoped he would be lucky enough to come across a solid black one. Smoke was born in February of 2013. Tom caught wind and just wanted to go “see” the litter of puppies. The rest is history, and Smoke came home shortly thereafter where he joined his older dachshund brother, Harley.
Smoke and Tom quickly became inseparable. They did everything together. Smoke slept under the covers with Harley at the foot end of the bed every night. He indulged in many bites of table food and was even known at many fast-food restaurants where he was treated for being so cute. Smoke enjoyed riding in the car and going anywhere with Tom. He endured several long car rides to Florida so his family could vacation at the beach. He was a true weenie dog and spent a lot of time being mischievous. Smoke got into and tore up many things throughout his life. He loved to run and play in the yard.
As he got older, his health worsened. He was diagnosed with pancreatitis in the early months of 2024. This made life much more difficult for him, but he was the best boy until the end.
Smoke helped Tom through many difficult health issues and has been a true companion through it all. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that he is free of pain. He will always be our Smokey Pokey, Poke, Black Beanie Weenie, Black Bean, and PeeWee.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home. Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.FlowersLeedyAllen.com.
