Sonya L. Fetter

Sonya L. Fetter, 89, Marion, passed away at 8:21 am on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Sunday, May 20, 1934, to Chester and S. Oma (Renfrow) Scott.  On July 26, 1953, she married Ervin E. Fetter, and he preceded her in death on May 2, 2006.  

Sonya graduated from Marion High School and attended Purdue University, where she received her associate's degree. She was a director and instructor at Huntington Beauty College.

Sonya was a 4-H Leader for Horse and Pony, as well as Leather Craft, and she was a member of Circle G. She was an avid bowler and had bowled in many leagues over the years at Jo Co Lanes, Plaza Bowl Lanes, and Crest Lanes.  Sonya also liked crocheting, sewing, and crafts. She had traveled to numerous craft shows all over the county. Sonya's mother, Oma Scott, is in the Indiana Bowling Hall of Fame.  

Survivors include her daughters, Patty (Wil) Sizemore of Marion and Linda (Fabio) Long of Marion; son, Stephen (Carol) Fetter of Marion; grandchildren, Brandon Fetter, Megan (Trent Jones) Fetter, Brian Heiny, and Stacy (Ron) Stepp; great-grandchildren, Katherine (Chloe) Wood, Logan Wood, Josh Stepp, Kateryna Smith, Leala Heiny, and Dakota Heiny; and great-great-grandchildren, Brayden Stepp, McKenna Sizemore, and Leighsen Sizemore.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Corwin Scott and Russell Scott; sister, Karen Nelson; and great-granddaughter, Breanna Wood.

The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Sonya's life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Darrell Smith officiating.  Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory in Marion.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Riley Children's Foundation, 30 S. Meridian St., Ste. 200, Indianapolis, IN 46204-3509 in memory of Breanna Wood.
