Steve Rice, 67, of rural Lagro, Indiana, died at 6:27 pm, Friday, November 22, 2024, at his home. He was born on December 19, 1956, in Huntington, Indiana, to Robert E. and Emma Lou (Stone) Rice.
Steve was a 1975 graduate of Northfield High School, and attended Lincoln Tech in Indianapolis. He married Carolyn Shepherd in Lagro on July 30, 1977. He retired from J.M. Reynolds Oil Company in Wabash after 45 years. Steve was a member of the Lagro Fellowship Church, and the Hanna Masonic Lodge in Wabash. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Rice of Lagro, two children, Cory (Erin) Rice of Lagro, and Jami (Brad) Metzger of Wabash; five grandchildren, Colton Rice and Emily Rice of Lagro, Marissa Metzger, Keaton Metzger, and Kyleigh Metzger, all of Wabash; brother and sisters, Thomas (Melissa) Rice of Lagro, Barbara (Dennis) Biehl of North Manchester, Jane (Tim) Houlihan of Wabash, and Laurie (Randy) Shafer of Wabash. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Susan K. Rice.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at the Lagro Fellowship Church, with Barry Swanquist officiating. Friends may call 4-8 p.m., Tuesday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave. Wabash.
