Steven A. Howard, 62, of Marion, passed away at 6:55 am on Monday, September 30, 2024, at Indiana University Health University Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Thursday, April 19, 1962, to Cecil Howard and Shirley (Noggle) Hurd. He married Earnestine “Ann” Craun, who survives.
Steve graduated from Marion High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, he worked as a janitor with the Marion VA Healthcare System. He loved fishing, cherished his granddaughters, and enjoyed spending time with family. He was known for his playful sense of humor and loved playing jokes on people. He was a lifetime member of the Amvets Grant County Post 5.
He is survived by his wife, Earnestine “Ann” Howard of Marion; son, Steven “CJ” (April) Howard; daughter, Heather Howard; granddaughters, Skarlet Howard and Kaytee Howard; sister, Pam (Jim) Aller; brothers, John (Valerie) Hurd and Thomas Howard; sister, Theresa Pavey of Marion; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Howard; mother, Shirley A. Hurd; step-father, John Hurd; sisters, Brenda S. Cramer, Linda Jean Charlton, and Melissa Howard; and brother, Michael Lee Howard.
The family will receive visitors from 9:30 am to 11:30 am on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the visitation, a service to celebrate Steve’s life will begin at 11:30 am with Pastor Mike Brinker officiating. Burial will take place at Marion National Cemetery.
