Teresa R. "Becky" Applewhite, 69, Huntington, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023, at The Waters of Huntington in Huntington. She was born in Marion, Indiana, September 26, 1954, to Charles and Alfreda (Gulliford) Applewhite.
Becky was baptized in Jesus' name at Christ Temple Apostolic Church in 1971 and later attended Bethel Worship Center until she was no longer able. She graduated from Marion High School in 1972. She went to further her education at Ball State University where she received her bachelor's degree in Journalism. Later in 1996, she graduated from IWU where she received her bachelor's in social work. Becky worked in the office at Prince Hall, was a social worker at Cornerstone Grant/Blackford County Mental Health, a night manager at WalMart, and a manager at Dollar General. She loved her dog, Pepper, who preceded her in death. She loved going to Bible study and luncheons and retreats with the church ladies in ministry. Becky loved church and church activities. More than anything, she loved her family and attending family gatherings, where she'd bring her famous Waldorf salad.
Survivors include her brother, Charles David (Angie) Applewhite; sister, Inez Bethea; nieces and nephews, Brent (Crystal) Applewhite, Shannon (Antonio) Thompkins, Ewing (Hope) Thompkins, Sherise (Billy) Thompkins, Daniel (Stephanie) Bowlds, Devon Applewhite, Arianna Applewhite, Camille Applewhite (Sam), and Brooke (Mitch) Barker; special great-niece, Janiya Applewhite; special cousin, Adrienne Cyrus; and a host of extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Charles and Alfreda Applewhite; brother, Brian Applewhite; and special dog, Pepper.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Bethel Worship Center, 1715 E. 38th St., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Becky's life will begin at 1:00 pm. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
