Terry Eugene Mitchener, 80, Gas City, passed away in his home at 1:00 am on Friday, November 22, 2024. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Friday, October 13, 1944, to Harold and Virginia (Eck) Lemons. On April 29, 1966, he married Patsy Ayer and she survives.
Terry graduated from Mississinewa High School 1962, attended St. Joseph College in Rensselaer and played football for them, then attended Murray State in Kentucky. He then graduated from Ball State University. He worked with State Farm Insurance. He was a 50 year Master Mason and a member of the ATO Fraternity. He was a member of Disciples of Christ First Christian Church of Gas City and enjoyed teaching the adult Sunday School class there. He and his brother Frank were founders of 3 Way Recreation Youth Sports in Gas City. For many years he was a member of the Board of Works for Gas City, also served on the Zoning Board of Appeals for Gas City, and served as Gas City Judge appointed by the Governor of Indiana.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Mitchener of Gas City; daughter, Kim (David) Mitchener Furusho of Indianapolis; son, Mike (Robin Bassett) Mitchener of Ormond Beach, FL; grandchildren, Victoria, Connor, Cameron (Tayla), Sarahbeth, Savannah, Julia, Rae Anne, Abigail, Benjamin, Andrew, Mykala; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Walter; sister, Glenda (Greg) Smith; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews; and aunt, Dixie Faircloth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen Harold Mitchener and Virginia Lemons; and brothers, Ed Mitchener and Frank Mitchener.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a Masonic service will take place at 12:45 pm with a funeral to celebrate Terry’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will take place at Jefferson Cemetery after the funeral service
