Thomas “Tom” Eugene Bever, 98, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 8:08 pm, Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Parkview Wabash Hospital. He was born on April 28, 1926, in Wabash County, Indiana, to James W. and Nellie Mae (Ply) Bever.
Tom was a 1944 graduate of Linlawn High School. He was a US Army veteran serving during WWII. Tom married Emma Sucher on June 26, 1949 in Lagro, Indiana. He worked and retired in 1988 from Container Corporation in Wabash after 37 years. Tom enjoyed rabbit hunting, mushroom hunting, and playing softball and basketball at Container with his coworkers. Spending time with his family was especially important to him, like raising 4-H pigs for the grandkids. The family will tell you Tom was great at telling a whopper of a story.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Emma Bever of Wabash, two children; Deborah (Dean) Custer of Lagro, Thomas E. (Barbara) Bever, Jr. of Roann, five grandchildren; Jeremy (Teresa) Bever of North Manchester, Indiana, Gina (Shane) Dale of Huntington, Indiana, Katie (Kevin) Pratt of Roann, Jay (Kim) Custer of Lagro, and Jill Beamer of Wabash, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Ralph Bever, Robert Bever, John Bever, Frank Bever, and James Bever, and his sister, Mary Jane Knotts.
Graveside services and burial will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash, with J.P. Freeman officiating. Friends may call 4:00 – 7:00 pm, Monday, April 7, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave, Wabash.
