Tony W. Rogers, Sr., 91, Marion, went to be with his Lord and Savior and his loving wife at 11:36 am on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Monday, January 2, 1933, to Algie and Florence (Dold) Rogers. On June 30, 1956, he married Doris A. Roth, his best friend and the love of his life, and they shared nearly 68 years together until she passed away on February 23rd of this year.
Tony graduated from Marion High School and then joined the Army during the Korean War. After honorably serving his country, he was then a General Line Crew Foreman for 39 years with American Electric Power. He was a member of Grace Community Church.
Tony was a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was fishing or working in the yard. He was known as "Mr. Fix-It Man" because, according to his wife, he could fix anything. Tony was also an animal lover. He had two poodles, Sophie and Sadie, who were the best companions.
Survivors include his daughters, Sandy Rogers Kimmel of Marion and Shelly Rogers of Swayzee; son, Tony W. Rogers, II, of Indianapolis; granddaughter, Lyndsay (Jake) Stratton of Indianapolis; grandsons, Dr. Eric R. Kimmel of Fort Wayne and Tony W. Rogers, III, of Indianapolis; special daughter, Leslie Dunn; several nieces, nephews, and friends; brother-in-law, Charles (Toni) Roth of Montreal, Canada; sister-in-law, Judy Fitzgerald of Shelbyville; and special friends, Richard Garriott (fishing buddy) and the breakfast crew.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Linda Rogers; and brother, Deforrest Alan Rogers.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Tony's life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
