UPDATE: HUNTINGTON COUNTY, IN- Jordan E. Collins, age 27, of Huntington, Indiana has been identified as the unrestrained deceased passenger of a Honda Accord that was northbound on State Road 9 in Wayne Township when for reasons unknown, crossed the centerline and into the path of a southbound Chevrolet Equinox. The Accord struck the
Equinox causing the Equinox to come to rest on the east side of SR 9 leaving the Accord resting on the west side of SR9. The unrestrained driver of the Accord, Kyle Collins, age 55, of Huntington, Indiana, and the decedent’s father, was extricated and airlifted via Samaritan Air Ambulance to a Fort Wayne hospital in an unknown condition. The
restrained driver of the Equinox, Ashlee Russell, age 28, of Jonesboro, Indiana, was ground transported via Parkview Huntington Hospital EMS in an unknown condition. Their current conditions are unknown as of the time of this release. Mr. Collins’ cause of death is multiple blunt force traumatic injuries due to the motor vehicle crash. His death has been ruled accidental by the Huntington County Coroner.
The investigation into the crash continues with the Huntington County Sheriff's Department and F.A.C.T., and Huntington County Coroner's Office.

ORIGINAL RELEASE: HUNTINGTON COUNTY, IN- On Thursday, June 20, 2024 at approximately 5:10 AM a Chevrolet Equinox was southbound on SR 9, passing CR 900 S in Huntington County, when a northbound Honda Accord crossed the centerline and struck the Equinox. The impact occurred in the southbound lane of SR 9. After the impact, the Equinox came to rest on the east side of SR 9 and the Accord came to rest on the west side of SR 9. The Equinox was occupied by one person, and they were transported to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention. The Accord was occupied by two people. The driver was flown to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention and the passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene. The incident is currently under investigation by the Huntington County Sheriff’s Office. The name of the deceased will be released by the Huntington County Coroner’s Office at a later date after notifications have been made.
