Wabash High School announces 2025 Valedictorian and Salutatorian

WABASH, IN- Wabash High School is excited to announce Kenley McWhirt as the Class of 2025 Valedictorian and Emma Weaver as the Class of 2025 Salutatorian.

Kenley McWhirt is the daughter of Chad and Rachael McWhirt. She has a younger brother, Jarrett, who is a sophomore. Throughout her high school career, Kenley has been involved in Key Club, SADD, Campus Life, National Honors Society, and Prom Committee. She also participated in 4 years of golf and basketball. Her awards and recognitions include Academic All-Conference, Scholar Athlete, Academic Honors, and the Gridiron Award. Kenley is actively involved at Bachelor Creek Church and is a member of the church youth group. In her free time, she enjoys baking cookies and spending time with friends and family. She will be graduating with an academic honors diploma. This fall, Kenley will be attending Johnson University where she will double major in Youth Ministry and Bible & Theology with the goal of becoming a Youth Minister.

Kenley stated, “I am honored to be valedictorian of the Wabash class of 2025. Getting this honor took lots of hard work and dedication to my academics. I wouldn’t have been able to achieve this accomplishment without the support of my teachers, friends, and family. It feels really good to have achieved such a high honor. I never expected this to be a part of God’s plan for my life. I give Him all the praise for giving me this amazing opportunity.”

“During my time at Wabash High School, the classes and the teachers have pushed me to succeed. The rigor and difficulty of the classes has better prepared me for the classes that I will be taking in college. My math courses, precalculus, trigonometry, and calculus, have pushed me to achieve good grades and prepare me for college. Over the last four years, I have pushed myself to achieve the best grade possible in all of my classes. I never settled for anything lower than what I knew I was capable of.”

“I have made many great memories over the last four years but some of my favorite ones include going to regionals four years in a row for golf and winning three county tourneys in basketball.”

“The most influential people in my life have been my parents. They have always supported me in everything I did and have always been there for me. My parents would show up to every golf match to cheer me on while I played the sport I love and sit in the bleachers during every basketball game. I am forever grateful for them and their love and support over the years. They have shaped me into the person I am today, and I wouldn’t have been able to achieve any of this without them.”

“One piece of advice I would give to the underclassmen is that you can accomplish anything if you work hard and put your mind to it. You can’t accomplish anything great if you aren’t giving your full effort. Nothing in life comes easily, none of your dreams come easily. You have to work hard to achieve your dreams and believe they will happen as long as you put in the effort.”

“Something I would like to change about the world is the division among the world. The world is such an evil place and people get persecuted for believing a certain way. I believe that everyone should live in peace with one another and love each other just as we are.”

Emma Weaver is the daughter of Amanda and Jeremy Weaver. She has a younger brother, Jagger, who is a 6th grader at Wabash Middle School. Emma has participated in 4 years of Dance Team, Tennis and Soccer. She has been involved in Student Council, Student Safety Council, National Honors Society, SADD, and Key Club. She is also in the upcoming Spring Musical which is a production of Grease. Emma enjoys spending time with friends, dancing and staying active. She will graduate with an academic honors diploma and her associate’s degree in general studies from Ivy Tech. This fall, Emma will be attending Purdue University where she will major in Pharmaceutical Sciences with the goal of becoming a Pharmacist.

Both of these students have worked extremely hard over the past years, dedicating themselves to achieving success and in being exemplary students and citizens.  Wabash High School is honored to call them their students and encourage the community to congratulate them on attaining this honor.
