Wabash High School announces “Operation Prom 2024” emergency mock scenario

This from WHS Assistant Principal Jeff Galley: WABASH, IN- This Thursday, May 2, 2024, at approximately 2:45pm, members of the Wabash High School Student Safety Council, along with the Wabash City Fire & Police Departments, will be conducting “Operation Prom 2024." The mock scenario will show participating junior and senior students the consequences of impaired driving. There will be a number of uniformed officers, firemen, medical personnel, and emergency vehicles on and near the school campus at this time. This is a “live-action” exercise and will involve volunteer victims receiving wounds and treatment by real first responders. The intention is for this to be as realistic as possible so it will include a simulated fatality. If any parent/guardian wishes for their student to not attend this event, please contact the Wabash High School front officer at 260-563-4131.

We ask the public to avoid the lower access drive area behind WHS/WMS from 1:30-3:30pm to avoid emergency personnel and vehicles participating in the event. Also note that at approximately 3:10pm an emergency helicopter will be landing in the lower practice field as part of this scenario.

Once the event is over an “ALL CLEAR” will be announced via our social media.

We would like to thank everyone participating in advance for helping us keep our students safe.
