WABASH, IN- It is with great pride that Wabash High announces Mr. William Chittenden (Wabash High School Japanese Teacher) has been honored with the 2024 Rising Star Award by the Association of Indiana Teachers of Japanese (AITJ). This prestigious award recognizes full-time teachers with less than five years of teaching experience who have demonstrated exceptional dedication and potential in Japanese language education.
As stated during the award ceremony by Mr. Sayuri Ogiuchi, President of the AITJ, “Mr. Chittenden is a highly deserving recipient of this award. Since his appointment at Wabash High School, he has shown remarkable commitment to his students and the field of Japanese education. His active participation in the Indiana Foreign Language Teachers Association (IFLTA) conferences and the IU East Asian Studies professional development programs highlights his ongoing dedication to professional growth.”
“Additionally, Mr. Chittenden has gone above and beyond to provide his students with enriching opportunities, including organizing their participation in the Japanese Olympiad of Indiana (JOI) in 2023 and 2024.
