WACT announces Spring auditions

WABASH, IN- Wabash Area Community Theater is excited to host auditions for their upcoming spring play, “Harvey” By Mary Chase.

Harvey is a Pulitzer Prize winning play from 1944 about a man, Elwood P. Dowd, who claims to have an unseen friend named Harvey. He describes Harvey as a 6-foot tall pooka that resembles a rabbit and introduces him to everyone he meets. His social-climbing sister, Veta Simmons, finds Elwood’s behavior embarrassing and tries to have him committed to a sanitarium. Upon arrival at the sanitarium, hilarity ensues, and Veta admits she has seen Harvey. Then Dr. Sanderson from the sanitarium commits Veta instead of Elwood. The search for Elwood and his imaginary friend, Harvey, is on.

WACT is pleased to announce that Harvey will be co-directed by longtime members Mike Barnett and Cage DuBois. They are looking for 5 women and 6 men to fill this cast of characters. Mike said, “Cage and I are excited to make our directorial debuts with beloved favorite, Harvey. We’d love for you to audition for this show that’s not only hilarious, but a memorable story about hope and friendship, even if that friend is invisible.”

Auditions will be held Saturday, January 27th and Sunday, January 28th from 1-4pm each day at the WACTory- located at 1620 S. Wabash St. in Wabash. People who wish to audition do not need to prepare anything. Selections from the show will be provided to read on site.

Audiences can look forward to this “dinnertainment” style comedy on April 19, 20, and 21 at the esteemed Charley Creek ballroom. They will enjoy a delicious meal and dessert, provided by Twenty, before and during the show.
