PERU, IN- The 2025 Distinguished Young Women of Miami County Showcase was recently held in Peru.
This year’s winner is Zoe Wylam, a senior at Peru High School. The title comes with scholarship awards and the opportunity to compete in the state competition.
Wylam is the senior class president, participates in band, is on the spell bowl and academic super bowl teams and manager for the football team at Peru High School. Outside of school, she dances at Ballet Arts of Peru and in Carmel.
Calie France of North Miami High School was first runner-up. Emma Zeiser from Maconaquah High School was second runner-up.
Also competing were Kat Longawa, Payton Click, Emma Steel and Josalyn Simons who all attend North Miami.
Each contestant received scholarship money.
DYW is a scholarship program for senior girls. Seven girls competed for the Miami County title, representing all three school districts.
Participants are evaluated in the categories of scholastics, interview, talent, fitness and self-expression. There is an emphasis on public speaking skills. Girls are interviewed by judges as well asked a question on stage.
The state competition is February 14-15 at Havens Auditorium on the campus of Indiana University Kokomo.
