McFarren’s ‘Natural Histories’ Collection featured at Clark gallery

WABASH, IN – The experimental and expressive cyanotype art of Erin Patton McFarren will be on display December 1 through January 1 at the Honeywell Center’s Clark Gallery. The collection, titled “Natural Histories,” is a marking of time and place, informed by the piercing markers of loss and the experience of healing. The art is created by a performative process in collaboration with natural elements, rooted in meditation. The cyanotypes are made with non-toxic materials that interact with sunlight and bodies of water.

Many of the artist’s works were crafted locally at Fort Wayne’s three rivers, as well as other locations, including Lake Michigan, the Allegheny River in Pennsylvania and the Peconic Bay along the North Fork of Long Island, N.Y.

“As I sit and watch reflections dance on the ever-changing surface, I collect the movement of water over paper,” Patton McFarren explains. “I watch the sunlight slowly change colors on paper, shifting shapes and my state of being. This work grows into a celebration of life and records all that is beautiful in the present.”

The Clark Gallery is open during the Honeywell Center’s regular hours, which are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and two hours prior to Ford Theater performances. There is no admission fee for the gallery.

Clark Gallery partners are Autumn Ridge Rehabilitation Centre, The Cleaning Company, Borders and Beyond Gallery & Framing, and Oswalt-Thomas Sales & Service.
