Heaven just became much more colorful as Rebecca Sue (Pullen) Kerr, 89, of Wabash, Indiana, died peacefully in her home surrounded by all the things that made her smile. Born August 18, 1936, in Wabash, to Fred A. and Ruth (McKinley) Pullen, who passed in August 1936, but was raised by Opal A. Pullen, who she considered her mother.
Rebecca was a graduate of Wabash High School and a graduate of the Indiana Business College in Fort Wayne. She was a member of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority, the Woman’s Clubhouse, and a longtime member of the Wabash Friends Church. Rebecca was employed at White’s Residential and Family Services for 24 years, from 1970-1994, serving in various roles, leaving an undeniable mark on many lives and forged lifelong friendships.
In all years, she was lovingly cared for by her devoted husband of 41 years, Michael A. Kerr, whose patience, steadfast tenderness, and dedicated love kept her so happy! Together they loved to travel, and created the beautiful “Chaos” gardening wonders in the corner of their yard.
Joy came in the kitchen too as she loved to bake (Cream Cheese as the primary ingredient). Rebecca was a voracious reader, played the piano, lover of kitties, excellent seamstress, and painter. Most of all, she loved shopping, and you could often hear Mike saying, “Whatever you want!” She never met a beautiful, unusual or mysterious object that she somehow couldn’t find room for in her home. Rebecca will be remembered for living a delightful life and as decorated as the home she created. Every corner a surprise and somewhere-always-a kitty supervising.
Rebecca left behind a treasure trove of wonders including her husband, Michael A. Kerr of Wabash; daughters, Amy S. Burkins of Bloomington, Indiana, and Meg A. Hauger of Wilmington, North Carolina; grandchildren, Carly of Wilmington, North Carolina, Emily of Dayton, Ohio, and Jackson of Nashville, Tennessee; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Rodney B. Teeter; daughter, Beth S. Morawski; sister, Bettie A. Custer; and brothers, Billy B. and John P. Pullen.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 15, 2026, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with David Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 12:00-2:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Wabash County Animal Shelter or the Charity of the Donor’s Choice. In honor of Rebecca’s vibrant spirit and love of color, we invite guests to wear bright, cheerful attire for her service.
