WABASH, IN- As we gear up to celebrate a historic America’s 250th Independence Day, the Wabash City Police Department wants to ensure everyone in our community has a safe, fun, and memorable holiday.
To keep our neighborhoods safe, please keep these updated Indiana regulations and local event details in mind as you plan:
Permitted Locations: You may only discharge fireworks on your own personal property, or on private property where you have explicit, prior permission from the property owner.
City Property is Off-Limits: Fireworks are STRICTLY PROHIBITED on all city property, including city parks, public streets, sidewalks, and school grounds.
Age Limits: You must be 18 or older to purchase fireworks in Indiana. Children must be under the close, direct supervision of a responsible adult at all times.
Indiana state law protects specific dates and times for consumer fireworks use. Please respect your neighbors, veterans, and local pets by sticking strictly to these legal windows:
June 29 – July 3: 5:00 p.m. until two hours after sunset (approx. 11:15 p.m.)
July 4th (Independence Day): 10:00 a.m. until MIDNIGHT
July 5 – July 9: 5:00 p.m. until two hours after sunset (approx. 11:15 p.m.)
All other standard days of the year are restricted to 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Emergency Lines: Please keep 911 open for life-threatening emergencies. To report dynamic fireworks violations or noise complaints outside of legal hours, please utilize our non-emergency dispatch line.
Be Mindful: Fireworks can be incredibly stressful for neighborhood pets, livestock, and individuals dealing with PTSD. Please be considerate of those living around you.
Criminal Liability: Please handle all consumer pyrotechnics with extreme caution. Reckless behavior that results in property damage or personal injury can and will lead to criminal charges.
