James David Hawkins

James David Hawkins, 62, of Marion, Indiana, died at 9:12 am, Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was born on February 29, 1964, in Hartford City, Indiana, to Dewy and Patricia Hawkins.

James married Ginger Roberts on July 28, 2019, in Grant County, Indiana. He worked as a diesel mechanic at the Walmart Distribution Center in Gas City and also cared for school buses through Auxilio Services in Muncie. His skill with engines was matched only by his passion for raising and breeding beagle hunting dogs, a hobby that reflected his deep love for the outdoors.

James was a man of strong faith who loved God wholeheartedly. His generosity was well known – he was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation. He found joy in hunting, fishing, and exploring nature, and even shared those passions through his own YouTube channel, Hawkins Outdoors and Shooting Stuff.

Above all, James cherished time spent with his family. Whether working, adventuring outdoors, or simply being present with the people he loved, he lived his life with devotion, kindness, and an open heart.

He is survived by his wife, Ginger Hawkins of Marion; mother, Patricia Ann Hawkins of Marion; children, Hannah (Colton Swanson) Hawkins of Wabash, Olivia Blackburn, Lynnsey Hawkins, Aaron (Brittany) Heinlein, and Brittni Enyeart, all of Marion; former companion Angela Whitt of Marion; and several grandchildren, including, Matthew Thomas, Ryleigh Heinlein, Brody Thomas, and Charles Blackburn; siblings, Douglas Hawkins and Diane Stambaugh, both of Marion; nieces and nephews: Abigail (Zack) Johnson, Amanda (Harold) Gray, April Hawkins, Jenny Stambaugh, Crystal Stambaugh, and Carl Stambaugh; 2 great-grandchildren, 10 great-nieces and nephews, 10 great-great-nieces and nephews, and step children: Steven Roberts, and Dustin (Kayla) Stidd, both of Marion, Indiana, Morganne Lizarraga of Hartford City, Rachel (Kyle) Lawson of Jamestown, Ohio, and Daniel Stidd of Marion. He was preceded in death by Father, Dewy Hawkins, and niece, Paige Johnson.
