Doretha Kay Morton, 78, Marion, went to her heavenly home with her family by her side at 7:20 PM on Saturday, July 18, 2026, in Marion. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Saturday, March 13, 1948, to Maurice and Wilma Jean (Camblin) Morton.
Doretha was a proud graduate of Marion High School and Ball State University, where she earned two Master’s Degrees in Education. She dedicated 40 years to Eastbrook Schools, beginning as their first speech and hearing therapist. When the junior high opened in 1984, she chose to move there and remained until retiring. She was active in her community as a member of Master Gardeners, the Marion Class of 1966, and DAR. Doretha and her mother loved antiquing together. Family meant everything to her, and her grandchildren brought her tremendous joy. She loved spending time at Hill Lake, where she had a lakeside property so she could watch her grandchildren play on the beach.
