Carol Vanlandingham

Carol Vanlandingham, 75, of Marion, passed away at 4:10 am on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, in Marion. She was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky on Tuesday, October 3, 1950, to Minnie (Whitaker) Barnes. On March 10, 2001, she married the love of her life Mike Vanlandingham.  

Carol attended Brodhead High School and later worked as a cashier at Kohl’s. She was a dedicated homemaker who found her greatest joy in spending time with her family and friends. Carol attended Jonesboro House of Prayer and cherished her faith and time spent at church. She loved flowers and rocks, The Indiana Pacers, and especially watching her grandchildren play sports. Carol was a natural leader. She was a friend to everyone that she met- very personable and someone who truly never met a stranger. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her daughters, Kimberly Chunn, and Jennifer (Jason) Lee; granddaughters, Ashley (Steve) Rangel of Gas City, Jordyn Lee, Jenna (Macray) Hull, Jessikah Shannon; great-granddaughters, Emalie Jefferies, Alivia Rangel, and Josie Shannon; sisters, Gladys (Junior) Alexander, and Wilma (Jim) McKinney; sister-in-law, Kitty McQueen; special friends, Ginger Ebert, and Anna Anderson; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Dewey (Rosa) Whitaker; mother, Minnie Barnes; brothers, Freddie and Troy McQueen; and husband, Mike Vanlandingham.

The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Monday, August 3, 2026 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Services, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN 46933.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Carol’s life will begin at 12:00 noon with Pastor Jim McKinney officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
