
Barbara J. Knight, 83, of Converse, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Marion. She was born on August 26, 1942, in Marion, Indiana, to Charles and Thelma (Miller) Showen.
On November 27, 1960, Barbara married the love of her life, Jerry R. Knight. They shared many wonderful years together until his passing in 2012.
Barbara was a proud graduate of Marion High School, Class of 1960. After dedicating many years to raising her family, she entered the workforce and worked for 13 years as a cashier with CVS Pharmacy in Marion.
Barbara found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed reading, working puzzles, watching television, and traveling to visit family members and grandchildren. She had a special love for flowers and gardening and looked forward to having her hair done each week. Most importantly, Barbara cherished spending time with her family and caring for others. Her loving heart, kind spirit, and devotion to those she loved will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her son, Jerry W. Knight of Smith Station, Alabama; her daughter, Rhea D. (Rick) Smith of Wartrace, Tennessee; her sister, Frances L. (John) Jacobs of Fairmount; her daughter-in-law, Mary Knight of Converse; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry R. Knight; her parents, Charles L. and Thelma Maxine Showen; her sons, Randle E. Knight and Bobby D. Knight; and her sisters, Linda L. (Rodger) Rice and Sheryl Allen.
Family and friends may gather from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, Indiana.
Immediately following the visitation, a celebration of Barbara’s life will begin at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park.
