Dale Lamoine Cooper

Dale Lamoine Cooper, 85, of rural Lagro, Indiana, died at 2:55 pm, Friday, August 28, 2026, at The Waters of Wabash East. He was born on July 9, 1941, in Wabash, Indiana, to George and Mary Alice (Keaffaber) Cooper.

Dale married Carol Sue Burns on May 15, 1965, at the Lutheran Church in Rochester, Indiana, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with shared interests and steady companionship. Dale worked at the Dalton Foundry in Warsaw and later retired from the Marion Foundry as a time clerk. He was an active member of the Gun and Rifle Club, the Wabash Saddle Club, and the Indiana Square Dance Association. Dale loved western square dancing, music, car shows, and celebrating weddings. For many years, he taught square dancing at Camp Tecumseh, sharing his enthusiasm and helping others discover the joy of the dance he cherished.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Sue Cooper, son, Scott Alan Cooper, both of Lagro,, his sister Alice Loreen Longfellow of Wabash, and his best companion, his dog, Bandit. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Kathie Sue Cooper, and brother George Lloyd Cooper.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Lagro Cemetery, Lagro. Friends may call one hour prior to the service Thursday, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is Wabash County Cancer Society.
