
Lawrence “Bear” (Larry) E. Stinger, 71, of Noblesville, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026, in Noblesville. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Friday, June 3, 1955, to Richard and Elta Mae (Shaw) Stinger. On August 11, 1990, he married the love of his life, Cathy Bockmon.
Bear graduated from Marion High School worked as an offset pressman for 30 years with The Chronicle Tribune.
Music was a very special part of Bear’s life. He had a deep appreciation for music and was quite the music buff, especially enjoying his stereo equipment. During high school, he played trumpet in the Marion High School Band. His love of music took him overseas to Germany, Switzerland, Italy and England where he had the opportunity to march in the Queen’s Parade and perform a concert beneath the Eiffel Tower. He also played at The World Music Festival in the Netherlands, and they placed 2nd. He was very talented having learned how to do electrical, plumbing, working on cars, and could fix anything. He loved relaxing in his pool, looked forward to his yearly trips to Myrtle Beach, and enjoyed going to James Dean Days.
Survivors include his wife, Cathy Stinger of Noblesville; brother, Thomas A. Stinger of Marion; nephew, AJ Stinger of Marion; and sister, Marilyn S. Moore of Gas City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Elta Mae Stinger.
The family will receive visitors from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2026 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, Indiana.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Bear’s life will begin at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating.
