
Steven Charles Emrick, 81, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 3:31 pm, Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on November 24, 1944, in Wabash, to Sherman Charles and Thelma (Leach) Emrick.
Steven attended Somerset High School, and married Ann Kitson at the Zion Lutheran Church in North Manchester, Indiana, on September 11, 1965. Steven dedicated his life to his family and his country, serving in Vietnam from 1967-1968. He was an avid horseman, blacksmith and farrier, also a lifelong Hoosier basketball fan. Most importantly, he was very proud of his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandsons, both of whom are named after him. He was fiercely patriotic and had a wicked sense of humor, which will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Emrick of Wabash; three children, Mark (Teresa) Emrick of LaFontaine, Steven (Jennifer) Emrick and Aimee (Jake) O’Neill, both of Wabash; grandchildren, Juwan Carter, Grant Carandante, Keegan O’Neill and Kiersten O’Neill; great grandsons, Isaiah Charles Carter and Giovanni Emrick Carandante; brother, David (Beverly) Emrick, and sister-in-law, Violet Emrick. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Don Bruce Emrick and Richard Patton, and sister, Virginia Coon.
Graveside services and burial will be 11:00 Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at Marion National Cemetery with Greg White officiating. Arrangements by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash.
