Elizabeth Sue Miller, 84, of Gas City, passed away at 11:30 am on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne, with her son, Rick by her side. She was born on October 18, 1942, in Tazewell, Tennessee, to Alvis and Stella (Majors) Hurst.
Sue worked as an administrative assistant for KW Electrical for many years. She had a lifelong love of music and singing, which brought great joy to her life. In 1970, she joined her husband, Charlie’s band as a vocalist, and later their son, Rick, became the drummer, turning the group into a true family endeavor. The time they spent making music together created cherished memories that her family will forever hold dear.
In addition to her love of music, Sue enjoyed reading and bowling. An avid bowler in her younger years, she treasured the friendships and experiences the sport provided. She was a devoted Tennessee Lady Vols basketball fan and admired the leadership and accomplishments of Coach Pat Summitt.
Above all, Sue’s faith in God was most important to her and remained a guiding presence throughout her life.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Ricky Trent of Marion, Texas, Denny Miller of Gas City, Tammi (Craig) Wagner of Greenwood, and Jami Lowe of Gas City; along with several beloved grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvis and Stella Hurst; her first husband, Charlie Trent; her second husband, Mervil K. Miller; and her siblings.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the visitation, a service to celebrate Sue’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest between her loving husbands, Charlie and Mervil.
