GRANT COUNTY, IN- Grant County Sheriff Deputies have arrested Lucas B. Wiemer, age 32 of Muncie in reference to the March 10th, 2026, fatal vehicle crash on Interstate 69 at the 272 mile-marker. Joseph A. Kidwell age 45 died in this crash, and his wife seriously injured.
Sheriff Office Deputies investigation of the crash lead to criminal charges by Grant County Prosecutor Scott Hunt with a warrant issued from Grant County Superior Court III for Wiemer’s arrest;
Count # 1…. Causing Death when Operating a Vehicle with a Scheduled I or II Controlled Substance in the Blood, a Level 4 Felony
Count # 2 …. Causing Serious Bodily Injury when Operating a Vehicle with a Scheduled I or II Controlled Substance in the Blood, a Level 5 Felony
Count # 3 … Reckless Homicide, a Level 5 felony
Count # 4 …. Reckless Driving, a Class C Misdemeanor
Bond will be set at Initial Hearing….
Lucas Wiemer turned himself into the Sheriff Office last evening, 5/11/2026.
