WABASH COUNTY, IN (WANE) — This from wane.com: A man from Wabash, Indiana, has been sentenced to over six years in prison by the Department of Justice for possession of child sex abuse material (CSAM).
Friday, the DOJ sentenced 31-year-old Cody Smith to 80 months in prison, or just over six years and six months, followed by another seven years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay $18,000 in restitution to the victims.
Smith was arrested after agents with the Department of Homeland Security executed a search warrant at his home in Wabash. There, the agents recovered his cell phone, which contained over 2,000 images and videos of CSAM. Data from his phone also showed Smith sharing preferences and the collection with others.
Smith pleaded guilty to his crime.
