
Emil Ray Harris, 84, of Lagro, Indiana, died at 7:20 am, Thursday, October 1, 2026, at his home. He was born on May 6, 1942, in Rowan County, Kentucky, to Earl and Emma (Conn) Harris.
Emil married Shelby Jean Honeycutt on June 25, 1960, in Kentucky. Before her passing on June 8, 2026, they shared 65 years together. He retired from General Motors in Marion, Indiana in 1994. Emil was a member of Erie Street Free Will Baptist Church. He loved devoting his time to working around his mini farm- whether it be bailing hay or raising cows and goats. He also took excellent care of his wife, Shelby.
Emil is survived by his son, Joe (Amanda) Harris of Lagro; two grandchildren, Jeremy (Alex) Harris and Tiffany (Jamison) Taylor, both of Lagro, and his sister, Rita White of Silver Lake, Indiana. Along with his parents and his wife, Emil was preceded in death by three brothers, Delmas Harris, Dennis Harris and Homer Jennings and three sisters, Sarah Jennings, Eula Honeycutt and Thelma Adkins.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am, Monday, October 5, 2026, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor Tim Webb officiating. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery, Lincolnville, Indiana. Friends may call 2:00-5:00 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.
