Richard D. “Dick” Baker, 91, of North Manchester, Indiana, died at 4:00 am, Monday, October 19, 2026, at Majestic Care in Fort Wayne. He was born on June 22, 1935, in North Manchester, Indiana, to Leroy A. and Laura (Sweares) Baker.
Dick married Peggy J. Campbell in Wabash, Indiana on April 14, 1961; she died September 10, 2019. He then married Joyce (Huffman) Joy in North Manchester on February 20, 2021; she died August 30, 2026. Dick worked at General Tire in Wabash 30 years, retiring in February of 1985. He was a member of the Congregational Christian Church in North Manchester. He enjoyed square dancing, and belonged to the Slicks and Chicks as well as the Belles and Beaus. Dick also enjoyed camping.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Stephanie Baker of Union, Kentucky; grandchildren, Allison (Marko) Milincic and Haley (Jimmy) Haggard; three great grandchildren, Sasha and Maks Milincic, and Lexi McMillin; step children, Randy (Linda) Middleton, Karen (Terry) Hewitt, and Diane (Brian) Haupert, all of North Manchester, Melissa (Tom) Rice of Lagro, Indiana, and Randall (Susan) Jeffrey of Lincoln, Nebraska, several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; and his sister, Jean Lockard of New Haven, Indiana. He was also preceded in death by his parents and son, Gary Baker, and two brothers.
There will be a graveside service in Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester, Indiana on Saturday November 21, 2026 at 12:00 pm. Arrangements by Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, North Manchester.
