Wabash officials to consider school budget, drainage easement vacation and new parking rules

WABASH, IN – Wabash city officials will take up a school budget, a police swearing-in and two ordinances, one on drainage easements and one on parking, at their next meeting, according to the published agenda.

The meeting opens with approval of the minutes from the Oct. 13, 2026, session.

Under old business, the agenda lists adoption of the Wabash City Schools budget, levy and tax rate for 2027.

New business begins with the swearing-in of Tristin Hayslett as a probationary police officer.

Officials will then consider Special Ordinance No. 5, 2026, which would vacate two drainage and utility easements in the Kentner Creek Crossing East subdivision. Vacating an easement releases the public’s or utility’s right to use that strip of land. The agenda doesn’t say why the easements are being vacated.

The final item of new business is the first reading of General Ordinance No. 14, 2026. It would add a new Section 7-99 to Chapter 7, Article 5, of the Wabash City Code to regulate parking in unimproved rights of way. These are public strips of land, often along roads, that have not been paved or otherwise developed. A first reading is typically an initial introduction of an ordinance, and further readings and a vote usually follow.

The meeting also includes time for public questions and comments, reports from liaison appointments, and reports from department heads.
