
Virginia L. Lockridge, 90, of Jonesboro, passed away peacefully at 8:35 a.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026, at University Nursing Center in Upland, Indiana. Virginia was born in Gas City, Indiana, on March 23, 1936, to Harry and Nell (Harrington) Shively.
Following her graduation from Mississinewa High School, Virginia worked for Owens Illinois and its subsidiary until her retirement. A devoted single mother, caring grandmother & loving aunt she dedicated her life to raising her children with unwavering strength, love, and commitment. Her family was the center of her world, and she found joy in caring for her home and the people she loved most. Her memory will be treasured always. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the University Nursing Center for the love and care they provided to Virginia in her final years. A special thank you to Elara Hospice staff.
Survivors include her daughter, Jamie (Mark) Shertzer of Dothan, AL; grandchild, Sean (Tiffany) Lockridge; great-grandchild, Ellorie Lockridge; nephews & nieces, Josh (Jamie) Furnish, Benjamin (Jeanna) Furnish, Debbie (Mike) Cantonese, Jon (Elaine) Shively, Larry Shively, Patty Shively, Cindy Shively, and Mike (Alice) Shively.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Nell Shively; son, Jeffrey Lockridge; and grandchild, Christopher Lockridge; brothers, Richard (Mary Alice) Shively of Greenwood, Herb Furnish of Gas City, James (Helen) Shively of Jonesboro, and Jack Shively; sister, Pauline & Whittingham & mother-in-law, Della Mae Lockridge.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Needham‑Storey‑Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, Indiana.
