Steven Lee “Scuba Steve” Flynn, 63, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 4:06 pm, Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at his home in Wabash. He was born on November 24, 1962, in Wabash, to Ronald E. and Sue Ellen (Stephenson) Flynn.
Steve, a 1981 graduate of Wabash High School, devoted his life to hard work, friendship, and the joy of community. Over the years, he was employed with GenCorp, Dana Corp, and later 5 Hour Energy, where he was known for his strong work ethic and easygoing nature.
Softball was truly at the heart of Steve’s life. He was a dedicated and instrumental member of the Wabash fast‑pitch softball league, contributing both on the field and behind the scenes. A talented third baseman, he played for several area teams and formed lasting bonds with teammates and competitors alike. His generosity extended far beyond the diamond-each summer, Steve opened his home to international players who traveled to Wabash to participate in the league, offering them hospitality, friendship, and a place to call home.
A passionate sports fan, Steve faithfully followed the Purdue Boilermakers, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Cincinnati Reds, cheering them on with enthusiasm season after season. When he wasn’t playing softball, he enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing and camping, where he found peace and relaxation.
Steve was also an animal lover, sharing his home with two dogs and a cat who brought him great joy. Known for calling everyone “pal,” Steve carried a kind heart, a warm smile, and a genuine love for people. He greeted everyone with friendliness and often reminded those he met that Jesus loves all His children-a reflection of his faith and his generous spirit.
He is survived by his daughter, Emma-Leigh Sue Flynn of Greeley, Colorado, father and step mother, Ronald E. (Sue) Flynn of Wabash, step son, Michael Gallimore of Wabash, sister, Rhonda (David) Van Buskirk of Roann, Indiana, two brothers, Michael (Mendy) Flynn and Christopher Flynn both of Wabash, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, and step mother, Lois Jean Flynn.
