Nancy Rebecca “Becky” Binkerd

Nancy Rebecca “Becky” Binkerd, 90, of Wabash, Indiana, died peacefully at 9:57 pm, Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at The Waters of Wabash West. She was born on August 9, 1935, in Wabash, to Lawrence W. and Martha M. (Mills) Stanley.

Becky lived a life rooted in faith, family, and the rhythms of the community she loved. A 1953 graduate of LaFontaine High School, she married Richard R. Binkerd later that year, beginning a partnership marked by hard work, devotion, and the shared responsibilities of farm life until his passing in 1991. Becky was a farmer’s wife, a mother, and for nearly three decades the secretary at Wabash Friends Church, where her quiet steadiness and warm presence shaped the life of the congregation. She was an active member of both the Wabash Friends Church and the Tri‑Township Home Ec Club. Becky enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, solitaire, word searches, and rarely missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy. She attended as many of her grandchildren’s events as she could, supporting their interests. Becky modeled her faith daily through devotions, prayer, and a gentle spirit that welcomed people exactly as they were. Her life was a reflection of love lived simply, consistently, and well.

She is survived by her four children, Susan C. (Dennis) Keppel of Roann, Indiana, Ronald R. (Diane) Binkerd of Van Buren, Indiana, Paul D. (Karen) Binkerd of Marshallville, Ohio, and Sarah D. Sears of Wabash; 10 grandchildren, Amy (Nate) White, Tracy Warren, Kayla Keppel, Bryan (Savannah) Keppel, Lucas (Renee) Binkerd, Adam (Amy) Binkerd, Katie (Ben) Van Zile, Daniel Binkerd, Rachel (Andy) Fox and Joel Sears; 19 great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, and one on the way. In addition to her husband and her parents, Becky was preceded in death by her sister, Ellen L. Stanley and brother, Donald M. Stanley and great grandson, Mathis White.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Wabash Friends Church, 3563 South State Road 13, Wabash, with David Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 9:00-10:30 a.m., Saturday, at the church. Arrangements by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash.

Preferred memorials are Quaker Haven Church Camp or Josiah White’s, both missions of the Wabash Friends Church.
