MIAMI COUNTY, IN- This from wsbt.com: The ACLU of Indiana has filed a pair of lawsuits on behalf of an inmate at the Miami Correctional Facility
The suit claims medical neglect and mistreatment.
It alleges one inmate suffered a severe seizure after personnel did not give him his medication, and was later pepper-sprayed during his recovery.
The second lawsuit filed is against the company that provides medical services to the facility.
Both complaints allege violations of due process rights under the 14th Amendment.
The ACLU accuses the company of failing to provide adequate staff to ensure the health of ICE detainees.
The detainee who the lawsuit was filed on behalf of had been granted asylum in 2000, but it was revoked in 2022 after he was convicted in a fraud case.
