James “Ronnie” Preston, 72, of Wabash, Indiana, passed away at 1:04 pm on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Autumn Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Wabash. Born May 15, 1954, in Paintsville, Kentucky, to James Herbert and Sylvia Lee (Roberts) Preston, Ronnie grew up with a deep love for family, simple joys, and the comforts of everyday life.
Ronnie worked at Yards of Fun and was a member of Faith Harvest Fellowship, where he found community and connection. He enjoyed listening to music, cooking, and watching movies on his phone—small pleasures that brought him genuine happiness.
He is survived by his siblings: Judy Bashore, Pamela “Pam” Darnell, Roger Preston, Danny Preston, and Anita Fager, all of Wabash; and by his nieces and nephews: Jeremy Preston, Ryan Fager, Shayla Cravens, Tanya (Bill) Cooley, Brent Darnell, and Kim Myers. Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Sandy Myers and Sharon Spence.
