Thomas “Tom” Glen DeArmond

Thomas “Tom” Glen DeArmond, 75, of Wabash, Indiana, passed away at 10:32 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Born October 24, 1950, in Wabash to Glen C. and Nondus Elizabeth (Brubaker) DeArmond, Tom grew up on the family farm, learning the value of hard work, a strong sense of community, and curiosity about the world.

A 1968 graduate of Northfield High School, Tom went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Indiana University. On July 15, 1995, he married Jill Marlene Keller in Hartland, Wisconsin; they shared nearly twenty years together until her passing in 2015.

Tom worked as a dispatcher for Bultman Trucking, director/dispatcher for the Dallas Winchester Senior Center bus transportation, and later served as a bartender at the Charley Creek Inn, where he was known for his kindness, humor, and easy rapport with people. He was an active member of the Wabash Church of the Brethren, serving as Chairman of the Board of Stewards and as a worship leader.

A devoted Green Bay Packers fan, Tom approached life with curiosity, humor, and an adventurous streak. He loved traveling, reading, good food, and making people laugh—often with a quick comment or perfectly timed one-liner. That adventurous spirit carried him by motorcycle through all 48 continental states, an accomplishment he was especially proud of. More than anything, though, Tom cherished time with his grandchildren, family and friends. Whether behind the bar, on the road, or sitting next to someone he’d just met, Tom rarely stayed a stranger to anyone for long.

He is survived two sons, Michael (Kristen) DeArmond of Dayton, Minnesota and Jonathon DeArmond of Plymouth, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Paige and Graham DeArmond; his sister, Carol (Dale) Silvers of Snellville, Georgia; nieces and nephews, Shelley (Will) Heffner, Tiffanie (Doug) Britt, Joshua (Crystal) Silvers, Jess (Jake) Stewart, and Josh Gnadt, and their extended families. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Jill.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash. Visitation for family and friends will be 4-7 pm Friday, September 18, 2026 at the funeral home.
