Kerry Lynn Steele, 71, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 7:23 pm, Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. He was born on February 22, 1955, in Peru, Indiana, to Raymond Eugene and Marcia Joan (Shoemaker) Steele.
Kerry was a 1973 graduate of Northfield High School. He married Linda Lou Green in Huntington, Indiana, on June 30, 1995; she preceded him in death on January 17, 2026. Kerry worked for many years at Ford Meter Box in Wabash, retiring after a dedicated career. He enjoyed spending time in his woodworking shop and had a lifelong love of cars. An avid IU fan, Kerry also collected Coca-Cola memorabilia and treasured his vacations to Florida. Above all, he cherished the time he shared with his family, friends, and classmates.
He is survived by two children; Megan (Ryan) Starkey of Peru, Indiana, Jeremy (Patty) Steele of Wabash, four grandchildren; Ellison Starkey, Holland Starkey, Allison Steele, and Ashton Steele; and siblings; Kim (Kathleen) Steele, Kyle (Mindy) Steele, and Kathy Steele. He was also preceded in death by his parents, brother, Kevin Steele, and sister, Karla Jane Stouffer.
Funeral services will be 4:00 pm, Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Rev. Josiah Black officiating. Visitation for family and friends is from 2:00 – 4:00 pm, Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northfield Class of 1973 Education Fund to provide students with opportunities that may have been unobtainable otherwise.
