Sandra Kay Crist

Sandra Kay Crist, 83, of Brownsburg, Indiana, passed away at 5:15 pm, Thursday, September 17, 2026 at Brownsburg Meadows in Brownsburg. She was born September 15, 1943, in Newark, New Jersey, to Forrest L. Miller and Constance Jean (James) Woodward.

Sandra, affectionately known as Sandy, was a 1962 graduate of Wabash High School. She worked as a nurse’s aide at Miller’s Merry Manor for nine years. On April 18, 1998, she married Ronald Lee Crist in Wabash, Indiana. He preceded her in death on February 24, 2021.

Sandy was a longtime member of College Corner Brethren Church in Wabash County and later attended Church at the Crossing in Indianapolis. She never met a stranger and was known for her warm, welcoming spirit. She was a devoted sports mom and grandma who rarely missed an opportunity to attend her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. She also enjoyed watching sports on television and faithfully followed Indiana University Athletics, the Indianapolis Colts, the Indiana Fever, and the Chicago Cubs. In her free time, Sandy enjoyed bowling and playing euchre with friends.

Sandy is survived by her two sons, J.D. (Cindy) Hamilton and Christopher (Megan) Hamilton, both of Brownsburg; two stepsons, Rodney (Chrissy) Crist of Wabash and Scott (Amy) Crist of Carmel; 11 grandchildren, Jazmyn Hamilton, Tori Hamilton, Ashley Hamilton, Jeremiah Hamilton, Coulter Hamilton, Baylor Hamilton, Emery Hamilton, Ashley (Crist) Kozienski, Lacey Crist, Ella Crist, and Lydia Crist; two sisters, Marilyn (Paul) Matthews of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Claudia (Eric) Pletting of Rensselaer, Indiana; and her brother, Scott (John Jay) Miller of Santa Rosa, California.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ronald Lee Crist.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Solomon David officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 12-2:00 pm at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is College Corner Brethren Church.
