According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, Rosemeyer was driving a 2015 Peterbilt semi northbound on CR 33 when it struck the back of a cultivator and fertilizer cart being pulled by a 2018 CNH Case farm tractor driven by Douglas Thwaits, 70, Syracuse. Thwaits was turning west into a field when the fertilizer cart was struck, causing the semi to go partially off the roadway.
Rosemeyer was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel. Thwaits refused medical treatment.
Turkey Creek Fire Territory was called to the scene.
