Darrell Lee Davenport, 72, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 3:14 am, on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at Wellbrooke of Wabash. He was born on May 31, 1954, in Wabash, Indiana, to William M. and Naomi J. (Sailors) Davenport.
Darrell was a 1972 graduate of Northfield High School. He worked for Container Corporation in Wabash for many years, retiring in 2016. Darrell was a passionate fan of IndyCar and NASCAR racing, especially cheering for Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Dale Earnhardt Jr. In his free time, he enjoyed mushroom hunting and cherished spending time with family at gatherings and special events.
He is survived by his four siblings, Marilyn Davenport of Wabash, Mark Davenport of Roann, Indiana, Dean (Cassandra) Davenport of Royal Center, Indiana, and John (Barbara) Davenport of Leesburg, Florida; sister-in-law, Sherry Davenport of Louisa, Virginia; five nieces and nephews, as well as several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dale Davenport and David Davenport, and sister-in-law, Cathy Davenport.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Marion. Friends may call Wednesday, one hour prior to the service.
